Wheelchair Rugby National League Round 3 - Sydney Slam Preview
The third and final round of the Wheelchair Rugby National League tips off Friday 19 July with Perry Park in Alexandria hosting three days of competition. With all the Australian Steelers being rested prior to the Paralympics later this year, the Sydney Slam will see the development players lead their teams to National League glory.
Heading into the deciding round, University of Queensland sit joint top of the table off the back of their Brisbane Bash victory last month. With them, University of Sydney will be looking to finish outright champions of the National League as they head into their home round level on points. Round 1 winners Bond University (3rd) are looking to overcome a 2 point deficit in their quest to become National League Champions. With a top of the table clash kicking off the action on Friday morning and only 4 teams in Division 1, every game matters as vital points are up for grabs! Bolstered by the likes of Kiwi international Jacinta Richardson, along with the electric AJ Holloway, Josh Hanlon, Richard Voris and a rare playing appearance from Ben Newton, the quality of the competition is still sure to be high despite Steelers absences.
Division 2 sees the Hunter Wildfires take on Victoria Protect Thunder with developing players getting plenty of minutes as they look to wrap up a successful National League calendar. Off the back of some thrilling games in Brisbane and a number of players travelling interstate to join the division, the action between the Wildfires and the Thunder is sure to see plenty of creative lineups and development opportunities.
