Wheelchair Rugby Australia welcomes new board appointment

Wheelchair Rugby Australia (WRA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bryce Alman to the Board of Directors.

Bryce represented Australia at three Paralympic Games (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008) and brings a wealth of experience in wheelchair rugby to the WRA Board as the organisation continues to grow and seeks to provide athletes with the best possible platform for participation and success.

Bryce said: “My competitive days are over, but my passion for wheelchair rugby remains as strong as it was when I was playing. I am looking forward to contributing off the court to the growth of the game nationally and the Australian Steeler’s future success”.

WRA Chair, Steve Loader, said “The appointment of Bryce to the Board is very positive for WRA. He brings significant experience in wheelchair rugby both on and off the court through his experience as an athlete from the grassroots level, progressing through the pathway and competing at three Paralympic Games and three World Championships. His experience as an athlete combined with his business acumen, will prove invaluable as we build towards the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games and expand wheelchair rugby in Australia.”

Bryce has a Commerce degree from Monash University, and is the founder and owner of Melrose Wheelchairs Australia and co-founder of Rove Wheelchairs.

Bryce joins Steve Loader and Directors Lisa Ronson, Tim Walsh, John Hart, Dr Nathalie Mann and Hannah Lidster on the Board of Wheelchair Rugby Australia.

Bryce’s appointment comes on the eve of Round 3 of the Wheelchair Rugby National League – the Sydney Slam. The Sydney Slam is set to start at 9:30am on Friday, 19 July through to 1:00pm on Sunday, 21 July at Perry Park Recreation Centre located on the corner of Bourke Rd and Maddox St, Alexandria.
