Wheelchair Rugby National League Round 2 - Brisbane Bash Preview

The second round of the Wheelchair Rugby National League tips off next weekend with Hibiscus Stadium hosting three days of competition 21-23 June. In a major boost, the round will be the largest on record with all Australian Steelers available and a three-team division 2 ensuring nine teams will compete across the weekend.

Home-town team Bond University are the current ladder leaders, having won the first round in Melbourne earlier in the year. Bolstered by returning Steelers, both Sydney University (2nd) and University of Queensland (3rd) will fancy their chances at finishing the weekend in first, securing important competition points in their bids to become National League champions. Joining the tournament for the first time will be the Hunter Rolling Wildfires, spearheaded by Steelers superstar Ryley Batt, with the Wildfires and both Melbourne outfits looking far stronger than round 1 earlier in the year.

For the first time, division 2 will host three teams in a National League, with many new and aspiring players having the opportunity to play many minutes across the weekend. The Suncorp Queensland Cyclones enter this division as favourites, however it will be hotly contested by the SA Sharks and the Victoria Protect Thunder respectively.

Confirmed team lists can be found below along with current league standings and the competition schedule.
